About Clare Howieson
I trained as a Printed Textile Designer and started my working life at Liberty London on Regent Street. Back then, you had to start on the shop floor with the vain hope you would get first dabs at a design job if one came up...
I joined the "Ready To Sew" department, 3 months later moved to the "Signage" department where we created all the labels, signs, window dressings and supported visual merchandising... and I loved it!
Not long after that, a design opportunity as a colourist came up at Arthur Sanderson & Sons...
I spent over 7 incredible years at Sanderson and had the best time ever. I created colourways from mood boards produced after analysing current trends, travel and exhibitions and any other source of design inspiration I happened across.
As part of the team who implemented the CAD system, I was part of the new digital textile design era and went on to manage the department.
In 199I, I decided it was time for a change so started my own textile design business, working for a cross section of Home Furnishing companies like Monkwell, John Lewis, Next, Bedeck and continued work with Sanderson.
I was really lucky to cross over into the Fashion world and worked for John Kaldor, a leading manufacturer of fashion-driven ladies wear who worked with a diverse range of mid market brands.
With many diverse years of experience in the textile design industry, working for some of the most recognised designers and companies, I am well versed in textile and interior design.
I am available for commission – be it a bespoke wallpaper for your cloakroom, fabric run with your own design or a scheme for your living room. Private or trade commissions are welcomed.

I look forward to discussing your ideas and working with you.
